Ben Vorlich

My friend in the picture was relocating to Suffolk. He wanted a good hill walk before he left and we chose Ben Vorlich and Stuc a Chroin(in the background) as a suitable venture. The weather was good, the snow hard and the visibility exceptional. He couldn't have had a better send off and a copy of this picture hung framed in his office in Bury St Edmunds. Sadly he died of Cancer in 2006.

Distance covered: 7 miles
Height gained: 4500 feet
Time taken: 5 hours

Ben Vorlich near Stirling, looking to Stuc a' Chroin. These hills are prominent on the horizon looking North from the A9 while passing Stirling. The pairing can be done from Lochearnhead or Callendar. The former is more popular, the Callendar route is a real expedition.
