The Mamores

We set of from Kinlochleven to walk along the Blackwater reservoir. After a stop for lunch we climbed up Sgurr Eilde Mor (the background hill) and then pressed on to Meanach bothy for the night. Next day we headed up over Binnean Beag then scrambled up onto the ridge in the picture leading up to the summit of Binnean Mor. After a steep drop we were soon back at the car and on our way home after a superb two days of hillwalking in one of my favourite hill ranges.

Distance covered: 19 miles
Height gained: 6000 feet
Time taken: 12 hours over 2 days

The Mamores are a long chain of hills just South of Ben Nevis. Their more prominent neighbour means they are often neglected by visitors which is a shame because they offer superb high level walking. The complete traverse is a challenging expedition with terrific rewards.
